When I took mine at sixteen I suffered from bad acne, was known as one of those ”religious kids,” tended to eat most of my lunches in the library and my limited social status as a varsity basketball player was largely undercut by the fact that the winter sport of choice in rural Alberta involves attempting to dismember your opponent with a long stick while careening around on ice, not tossing an orange ball through a metal hoop with grace and precision.The teenage years can be lonely, humiliating and traumatic.
